Obituary of Flora S. Stanley

Please share a memory of Flora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

St. Petersburg, FL - Flora Stanley, 96, of Dover-Foxcroft and Saint Petersburg, Florida passed away November 19, 2018, while in hospice care in Florida. She was born June 15, 1922, in Quincy, MA, the daughter of Vincenzo Salvucci and Pasqualina Ruffo. Flo was a popular hairdresser in Dover-Foxcroft for many years and is known by a younger generation from her work in the Foxcroft Academy Cafeteria. Flo and her late husband, Hale, enjoyed their time in Maine and Florida where they had lots of friends. As Hale’s Multiple Sclerosis progressively got worse, Flo proved to be a skilled and inventive care giver, often to the amazement of health care professionals who had never seen such thorough home care before. When it became too difficult for Hale to travel by air, Flo packed up the van, outfitted with a ramp and Hoyer Lift, and they continued to live the Snowbird life for many more years.

Flo was predeceased by her eleven siblings, her first husband, Herbert Cass, her second husband, Hale Stanley, and step-son, Captain Philip Stanley, USMC. She is survived by her step-son, Jeffrey Stanley and his wife, Cynthia, of Pennsylvania; grandsons, Michael and David and their wives, Melanie and Salena, along with great-grandchildren, Kaine and Alexis. She will be remembered by several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Frank DiAngelis of Massachusetts.

Spring burial will be in the Dover Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
