Guilford – Cheryl H. Leighton, 73, passed away peacefully July 28, 2026, at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was born July 13, 1953, in Bristol, Connecticut, the daughter of George R. and Permente (Beaudrou) Hichborn. Cheryl loved her family fiercely. She had a love for horses and fishing. Cheryl enjoyed playing games, especially scrabble.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Vance Leighton (Sunshine); daughter, Chrissy Paul (babydoll); son, Thomas Leighton (sunny bubbles) and his wife, Jessie; grandchildren, Landon, Jeriah, Mercedes, Nicolas, Samantha, Chad, Thomas Elscott, and Izabella; great-granddaughter, Rylynn; and nieces, Shanna and Crystal. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Permente; brother, George Hichborn; and daughter, Tammy Hichborn.

A memorial service will be held 10AM Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Guilford United Methodist Church with Pastor Bethany Fontaine officiating.
