Kimball "Kim" W. Walden Obituary

Greenville - Kimball “Kim” Whittier Walden passed away on July 8, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Kim was born September 22, 1953, and spent his childhood in Greenville, Maine. He graduated from Greenville High School, Maine Technical Institute, and New Brunswick Bible Institute.

His happiest years were spent in Papua New Guinea with his wife and five children, working with New Tribes Mission. He traveled all over the island of New Britain with his family in tow, building houses, clinics, schools, and several airstrips in remote jungle locations. As a coworker reminisced, people used to say, “do you want a team to come in and help, or do you want Kim Walden?”

Kim loved the PNG people and enjoyed spending time with them and teaching them new skills. He later worked state side doing construction work and helping to train young people in a missionary training center. Most important to Kim was his faith in God who sustained him throughout his life, and his family he dearly loved. He is remembered as a kind, gentle, and strong man who was an encouragement to many.

Kim was predeceased by his daughter, Olivia, and is survived by his wife, Vivian; sons, Philip, Zachary, and Schuyler; daughter, Emily; nine grandchildren; and a loving extended family.

A celebration of life will be held on August 1st, at 1 PM at the Union Church in Greenville, Maine with a reception immediately following at the Gathering Place at the Church of the Open Bible in Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Tree Hospice, 883 West Main Street, Dover Foxcroft, ME 04426.
