Pearl L. Smith Obituary
Bangor and Limestone- Pearl L. Smith, 88, passed away July 8, 2026, at Hibbard’s Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. She was born August 23, 1937, in Limestone, Maine, the daughter of Arthur Raymond and Stella Harriet Edgecomb.
Pearl lived in many states and countries during her marriage to her first husband, Alvry Robert Cook, a U.S. Air Force Veteran. She later spent several years in Florida caring for her uncle before returning to Bangor, where she lovingly cared for her older sister, Harriet Lambert, for many years. For the last five years, Pearl made her home in Lowell, Maine, with her daughter, Dorothy Hogg. Pearl worked for many years as a retail salesperson at Service Merchandise and Kmart. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her caring nature, and the many years she spent helping loved ones in need.
She is survived by her siblings, Dena Stanton, of Denver, Colorado, and Hughie Edgecomb of Waterbury, Connecticut; her daughters, Debra R. Harper of Orange Park, Florida, and Dorothy A. Hogg of Lowell, Maine; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Pearl was predeceased by her daughter, Stephanie D. Cook, who passed away in December 2018, and with whom she is now reunited. She was also predeceased by her twin brother, Pearly; her brother, Arthur; and her sister, Harriet.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 2 Back Ridge Road, Orland, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pearl’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
