Albert Lorenzo Dow Obituary

Dover-Foxcroft - Albert Lorenzo Dow, 89, beloved husband of Heidi (Sloat) Dow, passed away peacefully at their home in East Dover, on June 4, 2026, after many years of shouldering the challenges that come with Parkinson’s Disease. Albert was born in Dover-Foxcroft, the second son to Elwin and Ruth (Sargent) Dow on January 23, 1937. He grew up on their dairy farm in Sebec, Maine, milking jersey cows, haying the intervale fields and helping with the farm chores needed for their family milk delivery business. Albert graduated with a bachelor's degree in Animal and Dairy Science from the University of Maine in Orono in 1959 and subsequently worked for the United States Department of Agriculture as a Soil and Water Conservationist in Presque Isle, Maine, and as a District Conservationist in Hancock, Washington, Franklin, and Piscataquis counties over the course of his career, retiring in 2005. He served his country for many years in the Air National Guard after basic training at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He also did a bit of farming on the side, maintaining a flock of sheep for a number of years. Albert was a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1963, faithfully serving in callings throughout his adult years. He and Heidi married in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1974 and they, one by one welcomed six beloved children into their family, daughter: Susannah (David) Atwater of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, Sons: Ammon (Heghine) Dow of Vero Beach, Florida, Justin (Rheanna) Dow of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Spencer (Ivy) Dow of Elwood, Utah, Eric (Mandy) Dow of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and Todd (Katie) Dow of Mapleton, Utah.


He is survived by his wife and six children and their spouses, as well as twenty-seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a niece, six nephews, and several special cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert, and his infant sister, Patricia. These wonderful family relationships provided him with joy throughout his life and have been a great comfort to him this last year especially.


The family wishes to extend deep appreciation to the medical professionals involved in Albert’s care, especially to the hospice nurses and aides: Pam, Ashley, Crystal, Erika, and Amanda.


A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Dover Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bangor Road, Dover-Foxcroft.
