Charles E. Tarsook Obituary
Greenville – Charles E. Tarsook, 78, passed away April 24, 2026, at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital in Greenville. He was born September 7, 1947, in Greenville, the son of Omar H. and Yolande (Gagnon) Tarsook.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Chase) Tarsook of Greenville; his two sons, Edward Tarsook of Massachusetts, and Paul Tarsook and his wife, Lisa, of Tennessee. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline Mercier and her husband, Luke, of Tennessee, who are expecting his second great-grandchild in August, and Alexander Tarsook and his wife, Abby, of New Hampshire; as well as his great-grandson, Grayson Tarsook, of New Hampshire. He is also survived and very loved by Sue’s siblings and their families: Stephen and his wife Laurie; Bill and his wife Brenda; Fred (deceased) and his wife Diane; and Nancy (deceased).
During his grammar school years, his family moved to Massachusetts, but he spent every summer back in Greenville, the place he called home.
After graduating from trade school as a journeyman cabinetmaker, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served for four years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his discharge, he joined the Massachusetts State Police, where he worked for 11 years, a job he loved and one that made his father proud. After his time with the State Police, Charlie returned to his craft, operating his own cabinetmaking business.
After what he fondly referred to as “40 years in exile,” he was grateful to return permanently to his beloved Greenville.
He later became part of the CA Dean Hospital community, working in security for a decade. He also served on the Moosehead Sanitary District Board for 13 years, including the past 10 years as chairman.
Above all, Charlie took great pride in his role as a devoted husband of 40 years, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Charlie and Sue always looked forward to winter when Paul and his childhood friends, Dan, John, and Rob, would snowmobile to Greenville to visit. This past March, they made a special trip to Millinocket to have lunch with “the boys” and enjoyed a great view of Mt. Katahdin. A wonderful day trip for Charlie and Sue.
Charlie spent his days enjoying life. Fishing, hunting, boating, reading, and spending time with both childhood friends and the many new friendships he formed over the years. He enjoyed sharing coffee and breakfast with friends in Greenville. He loved going into the woods, to a pond, lake, river or stream to fish with his friend. Bagging his moose in 2009 was a dream fulfilled, and he was grateful to experience that excitement again when his hunting buddy, did the same.
His family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming love and support to CA Dean Hospital, his friends and the community.
There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming months.
