Graham Thomas Pearce Sr. Obituary
Dover-Foxcroft - Graham Thomas Pearce, Sr. of Dover-Foxcroft, passed away on April 15th, 2026. He was born March 5th, 1951, to Dorothy and Edward Pearce. Originally from Point Pleasant, New Jersey, he moved to Maine in 1980 with his wife, Patti, and their children. Graham dedicated his life to helping others. He served Point Pleasant Fire Co. 1 from 1969 to 1980, including as Fire Chief in 1979. For over 30 years, he lived in Wellington, enjoyed homesteading, and was instrumental in establishing the local Fire Department. There, he also served as Fire Chief for several years before leaving to become a Law Enforcement Officer for Dover-Foxcroft in 1995. Quickly finding that service to the Town of Dover-Foxcroft was his true calling, he enjoyed meeting and helping the people in town, supporting local businesses, community centers, and churches, and, in the true spirit of the words on his uniform patch, building “Community Relations”. In 1999, he was awarded the Maine Chiefs of Police Association's Police Officer of the Year Award for saving a resident's life. He retired from the Police Department in 2013.
Graham loved animals and never met one that didn’t soon become his friend. He loved to tell stories of his mother's dogs in New Jersey and the menagerie of wildlife his father used to take in: pet raccoons stealing dinner, cameo appearances from pet skunks, caring for hundreds of birds, and never being without a dog or a cat. He became known for fussing over animals and taking his time with them, and especially for letting his “grand pugs” sit with him for coffee and snacks and adjusting the bed to ensure the comfort of Patti’s cat. In his last weeks, he took joy from petting and conversing with April’s German Shepherd, Orion.
Graham leaves behind his wife, Patti, of 52 years; his daughter, April and their husband, Kevin; and his son, Graham, Jr. and his family. His favorite title in life was ‘Grumpy’, and he loved his grandchildren fiercely. While never an outwardly affectionate person, he always made sure to tell them he loved them, to be good, and to hug them before they left. Grumpy leaves behind his eldest granddaughter, Asia Wohlfeil, and his grandson, Kayden Sargent. His infamous parting words to his grandkids; "Now time to go, behave, wave with all your fingers but mutter what you want under your breath, and here is a hug."
At his request, there will be no services.
