Dover-Foxcroft, ME and Simpsonville, SC - In loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Robert Leo Dean, 92, of Simpsonville, SC on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. Bob was born on September 2, 1933, in Milo, ME,the son of Leo and Eileen (Smith) Dean and the older brother of Winston Dean.
Bob graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1952, and he served in the Maine and Connecticut National Guard. He was a tool-and-die maker by trade, a career that began at the Mill-All Co. in Southington, CT. He retired from Fayscott Corp. in Dexter, ME in 1993.
The Dean family spent happy years in Southington, CT and Dover-Foxcroft, ME. As empty-nesters, Bob and Dot moved to Brooksville, FL.For several years they were “reverse snowbirds,” living in Florida while spending summers at Christie’s Campgrounds in Newport, ME.
Bob was a soft-spoken man with a dry and sly sense of humor. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with long-time hunting partner, Rodney Cole. He also cherished many years of camp life with friends and family in a cabin on Center Pond in Sangerville, ME that was built with dear friends Betty and Linny Towle. Bob was a skilled woodworker, he painted, and he was an avid reader. He was also known to play the occasional mean game of cribbage.
Bob is survived by the love of his life and wife of 71 years, Doris “Dottie” (Raymond) Dean; sons, Alan Dean (Diane), Michael Dean ( Deb), James Dean (Laurie Barnard), and daughter, Cynthia Dean (Jen Muehlhausen); grandchildren, Courtney Dean Rodriguez ( Roberto), Dyllan Dean (Kali), Meghan Baumgartner(David), Holly Martzial (Evan), Justin Gudroe (Samantha), Natalie Dean-Wyatt, and Cora Dean-Wyatt; 8 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); his aunt, Mary Smith; and innumerable beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft, ME. Burial will be in the Dover Cemetery. After the committal a luncheon will be held back at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you have Mass said in memory of Bob at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft.
