Sebec – Betsey A. (Hamilton) Stone, 86, wife of the late Robert E. Stone, passed away peacefully April 9, 2026, at Hibbard Nursing Home, in Dover-Foxcroft, with her loving family by her side. She was born May 22, 1939, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Marvin R. and Ruth (Crommett) Hamilton. Betsey enjoyed living and raising her family in Sebec Village. Betsey found her greatest joy in her family, dedicating her life to nurturing and supporting those she loved. She especially cherished trips with her daughters, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. She took immense pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow, cherishing every milestone, gathering and memory made together. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will continue through the generations she so deeply treasured. Betsey was lovingly known as “Mammie” not only to her grandchildren, but to many who knew her. She was a reflection of warmth, care and kindness she shared so freely.

Betsey is survived by two sons, Dayle Stone and Kurt Stone; two daughters, Valerie Curry and her husband, Archie, and Yvonne Witham and her husband, Maurice; brother, Steve Stone and his wife, Cindy; twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Brandy, Kristen, Tara, Brittney, Eryn, Kyla, Wade, Paige, Mckenzee, Jennifer and Lauren, all of whom cherished her as “Mammie”; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Trevor, Emma, Alaina, Jaedon, Owen , Kieran, Jacob, Victoria, Ian, Kirstin, Ava, Knox, Amiah, Landon, Forrest, Wyatt, Ocean, Laken, Tylie, Mckenna, Rylie, and Oliver; and several extended family members. In addition to her husband, Robert “Bob”, she was predeceased by her parents; sister, Paulene Stone; her son, Bryan Kieth; and granddaughters, Amanda Curry and Melissa Curry Bither.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hibbard Nursing Home for the loving care and kindness shown to Betsey during her time there. A private burial will be held where her family will gather to celebrate her life and the love she shared. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Betsey’s memory with a donation to Sebec Village Associates to support the building of a community pavilion, a lasting place where family, friends and neighbors may gather, connect and share in the same sense of togetherness she so deeply valued.
