Madison, Dover-Foxcroft, and Palmyra – Paul John Withee, 66, passed away peacefully February 1, 2026, at his daughter’s home, with family by his side. He was born May 16, 1959, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, the son of Frank A. and Shirley M. M. (Williams) Withee.

Paul graduated from William Penn University with a BA in Physical Education and later obtained his Masters of Education in Kinesiology & Physical Education from the University of Maine. He worked as an educator and legendary high school coach at Sanford High School and Foxcroft Academy. Paul loved athletics and his allegiances to the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox. He was also an avid golfer, basketball official, and softball umpire. Paul was passionate about baking/cooking, as well as the role of being a loving grandparent.

Paul was predeceased by his loving wife, LeAnn (Buzzell) Withee, and his father, Frank Withee. He is survived by his two children, Joshua P. Withee and Courtney L. Lanham and her husband, Logan; two grandchildren, Jaxon L. Withee and Vivian L. Lanham; his mother, Shirley Withee; six siblings, Glyn Withee and his significant other, Elizabeth Williams, Kevin Withee and his wife, Amy, Tracey Desjardins and he her husband, Gerard, Kelly Harper and her significant other, Sonny Ihipathachai, Gary Withee and his wife, Elsie, and John Withee and his wife, Lori; brother-in-law, Jeff Durkee and his significant other, Salina Pierce; and sister-in-law, Jamie Durkee. Paul will be missed by his many former athletes and students, his fraternity brothers at Delta Beta Phi; members and friends at Fogg Brook Golf Course, and the many colleagues he refereed with throughout the state of Maine.

Memorial visitations will be held 4-7PM Thursday, February 12, at the Lary Funeral Home, 62 Summer Street, Dover-Foxcroft. A memorial service will be held 10AM Friday, February 13, at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, 824 West Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be in the family lot in the Dover Cemetery this summer. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
