Sebec – Melissa Louise Curry Bither, 41, passed away peacefully January 28, 2026, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 28, 1984, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Valerie J. (Stone) and Archie P. Curry III.
Melissa is a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 2003. She then went on to get her associate’s degree at Eastern Maine Community College for Early Childhood Education. She first worked as an Ed Tech at Orono Elementary and then moved onto Sedomocha where she remained until she retired.
Melissa’s greatest joy was being a mother and wife to the lights of her life, Emma and Chris. Additionally, Melissa had a faithful companion who was by her side every day, a beautiful lab, Stella Rose. Melissa loved watching her daughter play sports. Other favorite times were spent on Sebec Lake soaking up the sun, venturing to the “big lake” to watch the sunset with family, and the Sebec Lake Derby. Besides her daughter, her next greatest joy was watching her nieces and nephews play sports and watching them grow. Melissa was a woman who valued family and tradition. Spending time with family especially on holidays, playing cards, exchanging stories and laughter were things she held near and dear to her heart. Another recent tradition were Family Dinners at The Mill hosted by dear friends, Clara and Eddie. In times when Melissa was not with her family, she made many loving memories with her Squad and closest friends. Melissa gave everything to Chris, Emma, her family, and her friends.
