Dale Carlton McKenney Obituary

Parkman – Dale Carlton McKenney, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born at the family farm December 4, 1942, in Parkman, the son of Evelyn (Hinton) and Charles L. McKenney Sr. Dale grew up on the farm with his twelve siblings and graduated from P.C.H.S., Class of 1961. In 1964, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country in the Vietnam War and returned home safely in 1968. For the next 48 years, Dale would work in the woods until his retirement in 2015. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed long walks. Dale was an avid sports fan and especially loved basketball. Dale was a great athlete and played basketball in the Navy and semi-pro baseball. Most importantly, he was a devoted Christian and husband, and led many people to Christ when he ran youth group programs with his wife at the Cambridge Baptist Church for many years. Dale will be remembered for his great sense of humor and was known to be a big jokester and for making everyone laugh.


Dale is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Vicki (Pease) McKenney; two children, Alicia Patry and her husband, Luke, and Philip McKenney and his wife, Randi; four grandchildren, Landon, Kennedy, Saylor, and McCoy; eight siblings, Sally Hughes and her husband, Ronald, Joeline Inman and her husband, William, Arolin Cogswell, Donna Sheppard and her husband, Nelson, Peter McKenney and his wife, Sharon, Anthony McKenney and his wife, Lana, Lawrence McKenney and his wife, Sharon, and Patti Fletcher and her husband, Ivan; sisters-in-law, Anne and Lena McKenney; daughter-in-law, Christina Littlefield; special father-in-law, Arthur Packard; close friend, Anette Campbell; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Charles McKenney Sr.; siblings, Theo Jacobson and her husband, Arnold, Charles McKenney Jr., Thomas McKenney, Billy McKenney, and Michael McKenney and his wife, Christine; and brother-in-law, John Cogswell.


A memorial service with military honors will be held 2PM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road, with Pastor John Pillsbury officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Foundation/ Research or to the Cambridge Baptist Church.
