Dexter - Joseph “Joey” “Joe” Messina Jr., 43, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 24, 2026. He was born March 9, 1982, in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Joey was a devoted father, beloved son, cherished brother and loyal friend, who were deeply dedicated to those he loved. He had a heart of gold and was known to drop everything to help a friend in need. Joey was a hardworking man of integrity who proudly worked alongside his family as a mechanic, following in his father’s footsteps. When Joey wasn’t at the shop, he could be found with friends or family doing what he loved most; riding, racing, or building anything with two wheels, four wheels, or a track—it didn’t matter. If it had a fast motor and pushed the limits of speed, he was exactly where he wanted to be. Joey’s big generous heart touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joey was predeceased by his mother, Melissa Jane Bryant. He is survived by his father, Joseph Messina Sr. and his wife, Melanie; children, Jayden Messina Robinson, Aubree Messina, and Mason Messina; his children's mother, Deadra Robinson-Libby; siblings, Jennifer Silva and her husband, Kevin, Sean Messina and his fiancée, Laura Sawtelle, Christina Jackson and her husband, Kyle, Brandon Messina and his fiancée, Leah Smith, and Nicholas Barker and his fiancée, Marjorie Follansbee; step-sister, Victoria Leighton; nieces and nephews, Owen Silva, Ryan Silva, Justin Silva, Zachary Barker, Bentley Husser, Alivia Messina, Allie Messina, Eliana Jackson, Hailey Messina, Elijah Jackson, Zander Barker, Brynlee Jackson, and Lydia Messina; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members

The family invites you to join them in celebrating Joey's life and legacy on Saturday, February 7th from 1-3 PM at the V.F.W. Hall in Dexter, Maine. In lieu of flowers, Joey's family asks that contributions be made to a Go Fund Me page set up by his siblings to support his children (Honoring Joey's Legacy by Helping His Children).
