Elizabeth G. Ames Obituary

Topsham, Maine –Elizabeth G. Ames, beloved sister and friend, passed away unexpectedly while traveling abroad on January 7, 2026, at the age of 59.

Elizabeth was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, to Catherine (Nadeau) and Harold Ames on July 8, 1966. After graduating from Foxcroft Academy, Elizabeth left home to attend travel school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She worked for many years as a travel agent in Saco, Maine. This began her lifelong devotion to seeing the world, visiting five of the seven continents. She also loved spending time with family in Arizona, Florida, Portugal, and Sebec Lake, Maine. Her lively personality could light up any room, always making her a welcome guest. Elizabeth shared a special bond with animals, leaving behind her current special boy, Gato. Elizabeth’s other passion was watching the Blue Angels perform. Nothing got her more excited than hearing that they were coming to do a show in Brunswick. One of Elizabeth’s proudest achievements was getting her nursing degree from University of Southern Maine. This led her to a second career in nursing at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

Elizabeth leaves behind her brother, Brian Ames (Debbie); sisters, Helen Boemmels (Dennis), Mary Johnson (Rick), and Jan Santerre (Shaun); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including ex-husband, Kenneth Adler, with whom she maintained a close friendship.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
