Dover-Foxcroft - It is with deep love and fond memories that we share the passing of Philip L. Batchelder, who left us on September 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 28, 1937, Philip’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and a deep affection for his family and the simple pleasures of life.
Philip served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964, he was honorably discharged, an experience that shaped his character and his sense of responsibility. After his service, he worked at Logan Airport, where he made lasting friendships and became a valued member of the community. In his later years, Philip found peace and purpose in the woods, working as a woodsman until his retirement in 1990.
Above all, Philip was a family man, whose heart was full of love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his children, Kathleen Snide, Philip R. Batchelder (spouse Viola Batchelder), Donna-Jo Maynard (nee Batchelder, spouse), and Regina Hewins (nee Batchelder, spouse Brian Hewins), along with his stepchildren, Debra Morrell, David Brumm, and Peggy Beck. Philip was a proud grandfather to Philip M. Batchelder, Rebecca Maynard, Evan Batchelder (spouse Lindsay), Courtney Robinson (spouse Rob), and Nicole Maynard (spouse), and he was adored by his several great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life. Philip’s family will also carry in their hearts the memory of his parents, Max M. and Evelyn Batchelder (Nee Cole), Maurice Batchelder, Robert Batchelder, Frances Ann Batchelder (Wife), Rick Beck, and Cynthia Williams, all of whom he has now reunited with.
Known for his gentle spirit, quiet humor, and love of the outdoors, Philip had a way of making those around him feel heard and appreciated. Whether he was crafting something with his hands, enjoying a quiet moment in the woods, or sharing a simple meal with family, he radiated a warmth that made everyone feel at home. His legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and devotion to those he loved.
