LilyZen Kreider Obituary

Greenville - Lily/Zen Anna Kreider passed from this world far too soon on June 12, 2025 in Greenville, Me. Zen was born to Peter and Sheri Kreider on January 21, 2006, in Dover-Foxcroft, Me. They graduated from Greenville Consolidated School and was attending Southern Maine Community College in Portland, Me.

Zen loved music and theatre. They would often be heard singing songs from musicals to online friends while they were playing video games. Zen began performing at Greenville Consolidated School, playing guitar, singing in talent shows, and as young as 12 took a feature theatrical role, advancing to the leads of Elsa from Frozen and Rafiki from The Lion King. They were also cast in play and musical productions at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft, occasionally sharing the stage with their mom. Anime was a favorite medium for videos and Zen liked watching some of these videos with their dad at night. Lots of time was spent reading fan fiction about them.

Zen enjoyed fishing and snorkeling with their dad, and despite their professed hatred of hiking, they enjoyed walking in the woods, turning over logs and rocks to see what would move. Nothing was icky--all small life is cute. They loved yard sales, candles, tea sets, and mismatched socks.

Zen was also a founding member of LAK Minnow Rescue--every October friends and family trekked through the Rainbow Forest of Lily Bay Township to save minnows and crayfish trapped in tidepools along Jewett Cove--netting and transporting them the few yards to the lake. Partridges that they met along the way were sometimes invited as dinner guests– wild game, salmon, trout, sweet potatoes, and ramen were favorite foods.

They were predeceased by grandparents, Maynard and Genevieve Kreider. They are survived by parents, Peter and Sheri Kreider; grandparents, Wesley and Marlene Kidd; Uncle Steve Kreider and wife, Melinda Weaver; Aunt Christine Kreider and husband, Bob Margraff; Uncles Bruce Kreider and Scott Kidd; Aunts Loretta Griffin, Susan Knechtel, and Staci Walko; special cousin, Ethan Kreider; multiple additional cousins; and special friends Ally, Cara, and Kristalyn.

Donations in their memory can be made to any of the following:

-The Trevor Project, a foundation for LGBTQ youth mental health. Zen was part of the LGBTQ community.

-Walk a Mile in Their Shoes, a foundation whose mission is to prevent abuse of children in the care of/associated with the Maine Child Protection System. Zen had hoped to work toward fixing a broken child welfare system by working at CPS.

-The Moosehead Caring for Kids Foundation, Zen loved and worked with the Little Schoolhouse Childcare children as well as volunteered with the Greenville Rec Center, both of which are supported by this foundation.

Thank you for all the caring and kindness from the Greenville community.
