Orono and Brownville – Fernand Roussel, 91, passed away August 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, where he received excellent nursing care. He was born February 1, 1934, in Ste. Anne de Madawaska, New Brunswick, Canada.
Fernand was predeceased by his father, Julien Roussel; his mother, Edna (Violette) Roussel; his son, Gerald Roussel; and his 15 siblings. He is survived by his children, John Roussel and his wife, Anna, Micheline (Roussel) Jenkins, Daniel Roussel, Raymond Roussel, and Carol (Roussel) Buzzell; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Jacqueline (Roussel) Martin; and brother, Rene Roussel.
He supported his family by working as a logger for 52 years. His happiest moments were spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially Carson, who he nicknamed, “Big Man.” Fernand also looked forward to playing Farkle with his good friend, Brian Berry, playing his violin at open mic night in Milo, hunting, and fishing.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11AM Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Dover Cemetery in Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
