Milo- Richard L. Russell, 93, passed away on July 9, 2025. He was born in Derby on May 21, 1932, the son of Wallace and Laura (Dumond) Russell. Richard attended schools in Derby and Milo. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He then went to the Massachusetts Radio and Telegraph school in Boston, MA. Richard was self employed before working at USPS as a rural carrier until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Joseph P. Chaisson American Legion No. 41 for over 50 years and a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Milo. Richard and his wife made crafts and joined many craft fairs thru the years. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, playing cards with the 45'ers, and being at camp with family and friends at the camps he built himself at South Branch, Schoodic, and Ebeemee.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Michele Russell of Milo; his son, Michael Russell and wife, Stacia of Atkinson; and two special granddaughters, Sarah and Amber Willinski. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Russell; his parents; his brothers, Roy, Charlie, and Barney; and his sisters, Eva Cobb, Pearl Poole, Connie Carey, Lucille Pinette, and Mildred Raye.
There will be a graveside service for Richard and his wife, Patricia, 11AM Friday, July 25, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Milo. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
