Obituary of Susan L. (Leeman) Allen
Dover-Foxcroft - Susan Lorraine (Leeman) Allen, born August 11, 1964, passed from this life at her home in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on June 10, 2025, with her sister and her husband at her side. She waged a brave battle with cancer and made it her mission to lift and encourage others fighting the same war.
Sue grew up in Abbot, Maine, the daughter of Jack and Lorraine Leeman, and graduated from PCHS, class of 1982.
She married Greg Allen on July 8, 1988, and they treasured 38 years as best friends, partners in crime, and companions in every way.
Sue took pleasure in her jobs serving the community she loved at Mr. Paperback and at Mountains Market, greeting everyone with a smile and a kind word, offering hugs to those she could see needing one, and feeding friends and strangers alike.
Sue enjoyed traveling and loved to show off her photos of trips around this country, Italy and Greece. She was an extremely talented photographer; photos of flowers and wildlife were her specialty. She was an avid reader and a gifted baker. Tending her flowers and her chickens brought her tremendous joy.
Sue is preceded in death by her mum, Lorraine; mother-in-law, Jackie; and great nephew, Bo. She is survived by her husband, Greg; dad, Jack; sister, Tammy; nieces and nephews, Hollie, Rick, Mark and Dakota; great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering at the Abbot Town Hall in Abbot, Maine, on Sunday, June 15 at 3:00PM. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
“Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts the most.” Also, “Life is short. Eat dessert first.”
Words from Susan:
I have had the best life but it’s time to move on to the next part of the journey and have new adventures. I started life on the earthly plane on August 11, 1964. I moved on to new adventures on June 10, 2025, and had the best reunion with family and friends who beat me there. The first in line to greet me was my Mum. Her hugs and joy in seeing me make leaving this phase of life easier.
I was blessed with 38 years with my soulmate, Greg. It’s almost impossible and unbearable to leave him. I have been blessed to have the absolute best sister, Tammy. We were always the Leeman girls, and I love her so.
I have been blessed to receive so much joy being Auntie Sue to Hollie, Rick and Mark Brasier and Dakota Gauthier. They each have added so much to my heart and blessed me with children of their own to be Auntie Sue to. And the family just keeps growing.
I was blessed with a great sister-in-law, Amy, and brother-in-law, Clifford, and their families. I got to be Aunt Sue to Ashley, Rodney and Brady. And their families keep growing as well.
I was blessed with the absolute best friend in the world, Lee McLaughlin. It hurts my heart to leave her. I was also blessed with a great oncology nurse and dear friend, Nichole Adams Poole. I love her and I treasure our time together.
My absolute favorite thing was making people laugh. I love to laugh and to share that laughter is the best feeling ever.
