


Obituary of Charles Edgar Foss
Dover-Foxcroft - Charles Edgar Foss, 84, passed away May 11, 2025 at his home. He was born June 3, 1940, in Parkman, the son of Ivan B. and Grace (Chesley) Foss.
Charles was a graduate of P.C.H.S in Guilford and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy for 6 years before returning to school in Boston, MA, for two years. He moved to Westbrook, and worked for Fairchild-Semiconductor for twenty years. In 1987, he moved to Augusta and worked for Central Maine Power Co. for 14 years. It was there that he joined the Augusta Symphony Orchestra as a trumpet player and enjoyed those years. In 2001, he retired and moved to Dover-Foxcroft.
Charles was a faithful member of the United Baptist Church in Dover-Foxcroft and played trumpet in the church band. He also played with the H.J. Crosby Community Band in Dexter. Charles spent many hours volunteering at Mayo Regional Hospital and for the Piscataquis Valley Fair Association. He always enjoyed the family gathering and will be missed by all.
Charles never married. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Patterson of Bangor, formerly of Dexter, and Mary Lou Redmond of Dover-Foxcroft; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held 2PM Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Pingree Center Cemetery, Parkman, with Pastor Chris Viera officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
