Douglas B. Reed Obituary

Industry and Wellington – Douglas B. Reed, 84, passed away peacefully April 3, 2025, at Dexter Health Care with family by his side. He was born June 25, 1940, in Brewer, the son of Samuel O. and Mary J. (Greeley) Reed. Douglas proudly served the U.S. Army as a paratrooper before going onto a career as a shoe stitcher for over 60 years. He had a love for music, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a faithful Baptist.


Douglas is survived by three sons, Seth Reed and his wife, Carrie, Donald Farmer and his significant other, Mary Nicholas, and Jeremy Farmer; eight grandchildren, Teagan, Kanoa, Craig, Sadie, Brandon, Jeremy, Allison, and Maleea; very special friend, Marie; and close friends, Jerry and Miriam. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Mary, and siblings, Samuel and William Reed, and Elizabeth Thompson.


A graveside service with military honors will be held 2PM Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Pingree Center Cemetery in Parkman. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
