Obituary of Judith A. Porter

Dover-Foxcroft – Judith A. Porter, 75, died peacefully Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Hibbard Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born February 27, 1950, at home in Patten, the daughter of Raymond and Madelyn (Putnam) Porter. In her youth, Judy enjoyed picking potatoes, hiking in Baxter State Park and camping at South Branch Pond and Eagle Lake. She attended Patten Academy, and graduated from Katahdin High School. She went on to earn a degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Maine. After moving to Dover-Foxcroft, Judy ran a daycare for many years and always spoke fondly of the children she cared for during those years. Later, she worked as a Case Manager at Community Health and Counseling Services. Judy spent many years of her retirement caring for her parents at their home in Patten. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, and spent time on Sebec Lake whenever she could. Judy loved playing cards and spending time with her beloved cats. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and eating traditional Maine foods, especially whoopie pies. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Judy is survived by her two sons, Matthew Dale and his wife, Ann of Biddeford, and Jeffrey Dale and his wife, Erica of Dover-Foxcroft; four grandchildren, Brianna Keely, Evan Dale, Felix Dale and Leo Dale; sister, Linda Porter and her wife, Jan Jacome; brother, John Porter and his wife, Debbie; nieces, Heidi Porter, Shawn Porter, and Emily Porter Auert, and nephew, Eric LaPensee and their families; dear cousin, Ruth Susee; and many other cousins and countless friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and brother, Raymond Wesley Porter. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Rachel Dobbs officiating. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
