Obituary of Candice Carol (Gerry) Stevens

Dover-Foxcroft - Candice Carol (Gerry) Stevens,73, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born October 5, 1951, to the late Ernest and Priscilla (Ronco) Gerry of Dover-Foxcroft. She was happiest when with her children and grandchildren, especially at the family camps on Sebec Lake, Willimantic where she enjoyed fishing, playing cards, star gazing, and burning marshmallows over one of her epic campfires. She raised her son and youngest daughter in Stratton, Maine, where she worked at the local bank eventually becoming manager before working as an accounts payable clerk at Sugarloaf, USA. She later finished her career in accounting at Charlotte White Center, Dover-Foxcroft. A woman of many passions, she found joy in flyfishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, crocheting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, yard-saling, and reading. An avid bird watcher, she had a deep love for nature and wildlife. Her beloved cat Tweety-Bird was her faithful companion, and her love for animals was evident to all who knew her. She was also a prankster with a sharp sense of humor, known for her unforgettable facial expressions that could tell a story without a single word. She loved her people being happy and never missed an opportunity to pull a good-natured joke on family and friends. Candy is survived by her son, Charles Stevens and wife, Melissa, of Presque Isle; daughter, Ernesta Kennedy of Windham; daughter, Gina MacVane and husband, Eric, of Portland; sister, Bonnie Guyotte and husband, Joseph, of Dover-Foxcroft; brother, Allen Gerry and wife, Diane, of Otisfield; sister, Janis Meyers and husband, Mike, of Stratton; grandchildren, Tyler, Charles, and Andrew Kennedy, Cash Stevens, Stephanie and William MacVane; and her three nieces and five nephews. In addition to her parents, Candy was predeceased by her son in-law, Joshua Kennedy. The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Light Mayo Hospital for the quality and compassionate care Candy received over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local animal shelter or food pantry. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
