Obituary of Harold L. "Richard" Carson

Guilford – Harold “Richard” Leigh Carson, 73, passed away peacefully January 31, 2025, at the Togus VA Medical Center, Augusta. He was born November 8, 1951, in Hempstead, New York, and was the son of Mildred (Carmichael) and Merrill J. Carson. Richard proudly served the United States Marine Corps and was a Weapon Specialist in Vietnam. He was a great builder and carpenter and built his home in Guilford and a camp for his family. There were many things Richard loved; he loved his cars, especially his Corvette and classic Chevelles, riding his Harleys, playing his music loud, working in the yard, hunting, fishing, and most importantly his family, children, and grandchildren of whom he was so proud. He loved the simple things, telling stories, sharing a laugh, and sharing good food. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Bette (Church) Carson; four children, Wade Carson, Joanna Carson, Richie Carson and his wife, Kristen, and Dustin Carson and his wife, Sarah; three grandchildren, Kayleigh and Cooper Carson, and Georgia Carson; brother, Charles Sechrest; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. He will be missed by his two Labradors, “his babies.” Richard was predeceased by his parents, and his brother, Arnold Carson. Committal with military honors will be held in the Lawn Cemetery, Guilford, in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
