MONSON – Ronald L. Vainio, 78, husband of Diana “Dolly” (King) Vainio, passed away peacefully April 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 27, 1943, in Greenville, the son of Onni “Unc” and Charlene (Huff) Vainio. Ronnie was a graduate of Monson Academy, Class of 1961 and attended MIT in Boston for drafting. He lived in Massachusetts for 4 years before returning to Maine to work for Fay Scott in Dexter. In 1968, Ronnie went to work for the Town of Guilford, retiring in 2005 after 37 years of service. Parkman was considered to be home for 38 years before moving to his cottage on Lake Hebron in Monson. Ronnie was very active in scouting over the years as a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee and Board Member. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, gardening, boating, snowmobiling, and hanging out at camp, but most of all, he loved being “Gramp”, and spending time with his grandsons. His fishing expertise will surely be remembered by many and his fishing stories shared for years to come! Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Dolly of Monson; son, Darin Vainio and his fiancée, Valerie Weston, of Monson; daughter, Trisha Moulton and her husband, Scott, of Abbot; three grandsons, Jacob Vainio of Monson, and Brian and Ethan Moulton of Abbot; sister, Terry Deane and her husband, Brad, of Guilford; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A graveside service will be held 11AM Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Shirley Mills Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
