Guilford – Richard H. Morrison, 59, of Guilford, Maine, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 at Mayo Regional Hospital, in Dover-Foxcroft, surrounded by family members and loved ones.

Beloved son of John and Marion Morrison of Guilford and Enfield, Richard was born in Lincoln, Maine on May 15, 1958. He graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1976.

Richard was an accomplished carpenter and machinist and built several apartments and houses in the Guilford area. In the 1960s and 1970s, Dickie along with his brothers, Lewis and James, had a grass/snow-sled racing team, known as the “Morrison Brothers Racing Team”.  This team won many competitions throughout the state of Maine.

Dickie enjoyed special family/friend gatherings at his Mothers camp on Cold Stream in Enfield, Maine.  One of his favorite past times was to putt around in his little boat touring the crystal clear cold waters of Cold Stream Pond; the higher the waves, the more exciting the ride.  He scared many a passenger in his boat.

When Dickie was younger he enjoyed skiing at Squaw Mountain, and then later life snowmobiling and riding his dirt bike and motorcycle.  He was a very respected member of the 4 Winds Snowmobile Club in Guilford, and he enjoyed clearing the trails for the club.

Richard worked at the family Western Auto store and at Johnny’s Variety in Guilford.  Later in life, he worked at Prides and Guilford Industries.  Recently, Dickie was an employee at Whitney’s in Guilford.

Richard was predeceased by his father John S. Morrison, grandmother Hazel Morrison, and special friends James Smyth, Harley Arthers, and Richard Nesbitt.

Richard is survived by his mother Marion Morrison of Enfield, Maine, his sister Nina Morrison and Zack of Berwick, Maine, brothers Lewis Morrison and Helen of Guilford, and James Morrison and Catherine of Berwick, Maine.  Nephews John Bjork and wife  Amanda and their children Raegan and Carter of Berwick, Maine, George Thornton of Berwick, Maine, James D. Morrison and daughter Jaydan of Berwick and Guilford, Maine, and Louie Morrison and his wife Amy and their children Camden and Elin of Hermon, Maine. Nieces Laurie Morrison and her sons Brayden and Mason of Dover- Foxcroft, Maine, Whitney Cooper and her husband  Adam of Hermon, Maine,  Jessica Thurlow and her husband Mike and their children Aydan, Arianna, and Arissa of Auburn , Maine, and Morgan Peasley and her husband  Ryan and son Keegan of Somesville, Maine.

Dickie enjoyed a lifelong special friendship with Dale Bouley of Florida. He also had many devoted lifelong friends, who remained close through the years, Scott Davis, Dean Smith, and Tom and Pam Goulette.  Also, the best of neighbors, Tom and Brenda Danbo, and Adam Knowles.  Finally, a very special friend, he had known like a sister for the past eleven years, Victoria Garnett.

“Our circle has been broken as has our hearts.  Our children are lent to us for a little while and we know not the time for that to end.  Love them, for they are too soon gone from our sight. “

Per Richard’s request, there will be no visiting hours.  There will be a Celebration of Life to be held on November 18, 2017, at the Guilford Methodist Church dining room, at 1:00 PM.  Refreshments will be served.
