Obituary of Albert E. Martin

Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

MONSON- Ed Martin passed away August 21, 2017, at Lone Pine Farm, on the land that he cherished. Forever by his side were his wife, Marcia (Knight), daughter, Leslie, and son, Aaron.  He was born July 6, 1956, in Bridgton, Maine, to the late Beverly (Hilton) Durnakowski and Richard Martin.  Ed was stationed in Germany during his service in the U.S. Army. He was employed by many contractors in the Harrison and Monson areas as well as working in the saw mill at Moosehead Mfg. Co. He will be remembered as a masterful handyman who enjoyed building and farming.  His favorite “place of employment” was in Chesuncook Village.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by a sister, Denise Knight; and brothers, Alan Martin and Stan Durnakowski and their families. He was predeceased by a brother, Rick. He is also survived by a very special mother-in-law, Bunny Knight, sister-in-law, Cori Todd, and brothers-in-law, Scott and Peter Knight, along with their families. Ed leaves behind his dear aunts, uncles, and many close cousins and friends.

There will be a graveside gathering at the Hillside Cemetery in Monson on September 16 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, we know Ed would rather a donation be made to Sarah’s House of Maine, 346 Main Road, Holden, ME 04429 - a place where he found much comfort and peace of mind. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
