Obituary of Alan E. McBrierty

Greenville- Alan E. McBrierty, 73, passed away unexpectedly August 20, 2017, at his home. He was born August 2, 1944, in Greenville, the son of Chester R. and Evelyn E. (Emery) McBrierty.  Alan was a graduate of Greenville High School and Husson College.  A U.S. Army veteran, Alan worked as a truck driver for Scott Paper Company before retiring as a supervisor in 2000.  He was a proud member of the Columbia-Doric Masonic Lodge No. 149 and a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 94, Greenville.  Alan enjoyed gardening, hunting, driving school bus, his morning coffee routines, but most enjoyed his family and family gatherings.

Alan is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Hubbard) McBrierty; son, Bryan McBrierty and his wife, Heather; daughters, Elizabeth Ireland and her husband, Andy, Carol Sanders-Sheehan, and Rebecca Brown and her husband, Troy; 8 grandchildren, Zoe Brown, Katie and Cooper McBrierty, Andrew and Grace Ireland, and David, Devin, and Dillon Sheehan; four sisters; Cleo Phillips, Linda Inman and her husband, Raymond, Cheri White and her husband, Leon, Myra Caron and her husband, Victor, and brother, Bruce McBrierty and his wife, Carol; a sister-in-law, Patty (Hubbard) Brown and her husband, Clowes; and many, many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and 9 siblings, Chester McBrierty, Jr., Nurisha “Tommie” Lail, Barbara “Bobbie” Clark, Hurley “Buddy” McBrierty, Joan Schultz, Foster McBrierty, Gail Young, Sharon Powers, and Lana McBrierty.

Friends are invited to call 6-8PM Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Greenville Chapel of Lary Funeral Home located in the Masonic building on Pritham Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11AM Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the Union Church, Greenville, with Rev. Fr. Aaron Damboise, celebrant.  Burial with military honors and Masonic services will be held at a date to be announced.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 457, Greenville, ME 04441. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
