Obituary of Marilyn Horne Bailey

Milo – Marilyn (Horne) Bailey, 77, beloved wife of Terry Earl Bailey, passed away April 13, 2017, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. She was born April 6, 1940, in Milo, the daughter of Ernest “Pete” Alden and Elizabeth “Betty” (Merrill) Horne. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Terry of Milo; two sons, Brent and his wife, Anne, of Brownville, and Eric and his wife, Wendy, of Medford; eight grandchildren, Erynn, Jordan, Kayla, Ryan, Shelby, Randall, Cora, and Camron; two great-granddaughters, Karlee and Kaia; and a great-grandson, Alec. She also leaves a sister, Helen Valente of Cumberland Center; many wonderful cousins, nephews and nieces; and special friends, Sandra Gray, Joyce Wessel, and Rena Stanchfield. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Jackie; sister, Carolyn; in-laws, Charles and Joyce Bailey; and a baby daughter. Marilyn’s life centered around her family and close friends, always serving as the glue that held everyone together. She loved to travel with her husband, family and friends. She also thoroughly enjoyed shopping, eating out, family gatherings and holidays. She was a wonderful cook, hosting Christmas Eve parties and Christmas dinners annually. A couple of her favorite past times were to watch her beloved Red Sox and favorite golfer, Phil Mickelson. She will be missed by so many. Marilyn’s family extends special thanks to the wonderful staff at Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor who took such wonderful care of her. A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm Monday, April 24, 2017, at the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, with Pastor Phil McLaughlin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 477 Congress Street, Suite M1, Portland, ME 04104. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
