Dover-Foxcroft – Glenice M. (Haley) Snyder passed away April 5, 2017, at a Bangor hospital. She was born November 7, 1933, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Daniel and Hazel (Scribner) Haley. While at Foxcroft Academy she established the school’s first softball team, and during her four-year tenure as starting pitcher, the team lost only one game. Glenice also played basketball, earned four varsity letters in cheerleading, and was an accomplished swimmer. After FA, Glenice joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Andrews Air Force base in Washington, D.C., where she again established a softball team. In her first year on the team, she was named to the All-Star Eastern Service Woman’s Team that played other all-star teams from around the country. Later in life, Glenice picked up candlepin bowling, winning several individual and team state titles over an accomplished 40-year career. She was an active member, past senior vice-president, and patriotic instructor of the DUV, and a member of the Chadbourne-Merrill American Legion Post No. 29. Glenice also spent many years mapping, recording, and updating veteran grave information in the local cemeteries. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; a sister, Phyllis Crommett; a son, Allan, and a granddaughter, Samantha. She is survived by her two brothers, Carroll Haley and Stanley Haley, as well as her children, Toni, Bruce, Ricky, Karen, and Danny; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be announced. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
