Milo- Althea F. Hamlin, 97, passed away peacefully with family at her side March 4, 2017, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. She was born April 15, 1919, in Brewer, the daughter of Edwin and Florence (Leland) Conary. Althea loved the outdoors; especially her flower gardens and fishing and hunting with Carl. She was a 72 year member of the J.P. Chaisson American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the United Baptist Church, Milo. The matriarch of the family, Althea loved her family and nurtured them through her wonderful cooking. Althea was predeceased by her loving husband, Carl, and her sister, Evelyn Conary Carey. She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Moore Wucher and her husband, Dave, of Avon Park, FL, Stephen Hamlin and his wife, Cheryl, of Levant, Carla Bolduc and her husband, Maurice, of Portland, and Julia Andrews and her husband, Phillip, of Milo; ten grandchildren, Cheryl Michaud, Patricia Green, Richard Moore, Michael Hamlin, Michelle Hamlin, Matthew Harmon, Andrew Harmon, Anthony Harmon, Michael Andrews, and Ryan Andrews; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family wishes to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home staff and New Hope Hospice for their compassionate care to Althea. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11AM Saturday, July 1, 2017, in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Milo. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
