Obituary of Mary Lou Narbus

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rockwood- Mary Lou Narbus, 58, resident of Rockwood, passed away on January 13, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born in Philadelphia on July 19, 1958 to Jane and William Chobert, and raised in Pine Hill, New Jersey. In 1979, Mary and her husband, Mike, relocated to the woods of Northern Maine where they remained for nearly forty years. Mary was a devoted Christian, loving wife, dedicated mother, and caring friend. She opened her heart and home to those in need, often resulting in an interesting collection of friends and family during holidays such as Thanksgiving. Mary was an avid reader who spent many hours pouring over her Bible near the fire place during the winter, or out on the dock in the summer as she listened to the loons. Mary enjoyed nature and any activity that allowed her to spend time in the woods, or on the lakes and rivers near her home on Moosehead Lake. Mary spent much of her time supporting friends and her community through various events and activities. In addition, she greatly loved spending time with her husband, children, and three lovely granddaughters who referred to her fondly as “Nana.” Her only regret was not being able to see her grandbabies grow up. Despite her prognosis, Mary found daily comfort in her faith and belief that her time on earth was in the Lord’s hands. “The days that were ordained for me, were written for me when as yet there was not one of them ” ~ Psalms 139:10. Nonetheless, Mary (“Nana”) will be terribly missed by her adoring family, church community, and many friends. Mary is survived by her husband Mike, son Christopher and his wife Maggie, daughter Katie, daughter Leah and her partner Kyle, greatly adored granddaughters Maeve, Cora, and Ava, parents-in-law Joseph and Berta, sisters Alice and Jane, brother-in-law Peter, and many much loved nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor and remember Mary will be held Saturday, January 28, 1pm, in the Church of the Open Bible, located at 8 Sherman Avenue in Greenville, Maine. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
