Dover-Foxcroft and Madison – Walter M. Thebarge, 83, husband of M. Elizabeth (Cronkhite) Thebarge, passed away February 29, 2016, at his home in Madison. He was born April 9, 1932, in Madison, the son of Jerry and Leanna (Caron) Thebarge. Walter had been employed as the service manager at Prouty Ford in Dover-Foxcroft for many years. He was a Past Grand Master of the Knights of Columbus, Past Parish Council President and a past Sunday School Teacher, all at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft. He was a past member of the Grange and 4-H, and an avid fisherman. Walter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty, of Madison; three sons, Leonard Thebarge Sr., Bruce Thebarge, and Eric Thebarge; two daughters, Denise Nutter, and Therese Bearor; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He leaves three brothers, Ernest, Edmund, and Edwin Thebarge; and two sisters, Florence Gorman, and Evangeline Richardson. He was predeceased by two brothers, Armand and Jeff; and five sisters, Grace Boyce, Eva Thebarge, Evelyn Leeman, Lena Pratt, and Lydia Moulton. Walter’s family extends a grateful thank you for those who went above and beyond in their care for him: Togus VA Hospital, especially including Dr. Hodaap; and Beacon Hospice caregivers, Issac, Jason, John, and daughter, Therese, for the special gifts they gave to Walter during his treatment. A graveside service at the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. will be conducted at 11am April 29, 2016. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
